RENEWABLE ENERGY
Interreg Med Renewable Energy
The Interreg MED Renewable Energy Community is configured by six modular projects focused on the promotion of renewable energies in the Mediterranean Area, making a special attention to rural and islands areas. The aim is to promote an effective integration of energy into territorial planning, and bring out new opportunities for local development. Through these six modular Projects: Compose, ForbioEnergy, Local4Green, Prismi, Pegasus and StoRES the Interreg Med Renewable Energy capitalizes the results. All of them were projects that promoted the increase of renewable energies through different types of approaches. The types of outcomes are a set of tools and methodologies aligned to clean energy transition in Mediterranean areas, giving emphasis to rural and islands.
Transnational cooperation is required for the successful transfer of knowledge derived from the tools developed in the 6 previous projects. Thus, the Renewable Energy Plan establishes three geographical areas as key fronts for the organization of transport and three new strategic partners to lead the actions. The role of AEGEA is the transfer of knowledge to the Eastern Mediterranean region that covers Greece and Cyprus.
