IMPLEMENT: European Energy Award in 6 island municipalities

In the framework of the IMPLEMENT project, AEGEA is operating as National Office for the implementation of the European Energy Award (EEA) in Greece. Main goal of EEA is to strengthen and support the Climate Policy at local government level by reducing CO2 emissions, through a Quality Management System with a practical approach and continuous processes, progress and achievement of goals monitoring, applying in Covenant of Mayors and SECAP actions of the EEA Users – Municipalities, as well as by providing professional support within the of the Covenant of Mayors framework.

In January 2022, the AEGEA Pilots – Island Municipalities Amorgos, Thira, Kos, Milos, Mykonos and Chios, successfully carried out the external audit on the procedures and actions of their Climate Policy in the frame of the EEA certification process, thus fulfilling their evaluation cycle using EEA procedures.

To get there, Energy teams of the Municipalities and AEGEA as National Office, worked together and cooperated successfully with the two External Auditors, from Greece and Germany.
